Password-Protected Accounts

As an additional layer of security, Hinkal has implemented password-protected accounts.

When you connect your wallet and password-protected mode is enabled, you generate a different shielded address than normally connecting your wallet (password-protected mode disabled). This means that each public address can be tied to a 'normal' Hinkal account and a 'password-protected' one.

Please treat your password as your mnemonic phrase. Hinkal cannot retrieve your shielded assets if you lose access or forget the password!

Note: If you are using an MPC wallet, such as MPC Vault or Utila, please switch to password-protected mode.

This is how it works:

Switch to Password-Protected Mode

You can create a password-protected Hinkal account or sign in to existing one by turning ON the switcher on the top right corner of the Hinkal dApp.

Create Password-Protected account

After connecting your wallet and if there's no associated password-protected account yet, you will be prompted to create a password.

Please treat this password as your mnemonic phrase. Losing access or forgetting the password will lead to loss of your shielded assets!

After you submit the password, your password-protected shielded address will be generated and you can start using Hinkal the same way as you would with a non password-protected account.

Sign in to existing Password-Protected account

If the connected wallet is associated with an existing password-protected account, you are prompted to sign in using your password.

In case you forgot or lost your password, your shielded assets can't be retrieved! If, at any point, you remember or regain access to your password, you can sign in again and view your shielded assets.

You can still create new password-protected account by connecting with a different wallet.
