Hinkal Wallet lets you decide how you onboard and where you keep custody of your keys. Whether you link an existing wallet, spin up a brand-new one, or import a seed phrase you already hold, the flow is short and simple.

Onboard with an External Wallet

(Welcome screen → “Use an external wallet”)

  1. Create a password The very first screen asks for a password and a confirmation. The password protects Hinkal only on this device—it doesn’t change the security model of your external wallet.

  2. Connect your existing wallet Tap the MetaMask, Phantom, or other icon that matches the wallet you want to use, then sign the connection request. This wallet becomes your recovery key. If you ever uninstall Hinkal or forget the password, simply reconnect with the same wallet and you’re back in.

  3. Select tokens (optional) A token list from your imported wallet appears. Select up to 5 tokens (per transaction) you want to deposit into Hinkal now, or press Skip to do it later.

  4. Deposit (optional) Enter amounts for each chosen token and hit Deposit—or Skip again if you’d rather wait.

Create a New Hinkal Wallet

(Welcome screen → “Create a new Hinkal Wallet”)

  1. Create a password Same local-password screen as above.

  2. Save your 12-word recovery phrase Hinkal generates a unique phrase. Write it down and tick the checkbox confirming you understand Hinkal cannot recover it for you. This phrase is the only way to restore the wallet if you lose the device or forget the password.

  3. Confirm the phrase Three random blanks must be filled with the correct words from the phrase you just saved. A quick confirmation ensures you stored the phrase somewhere safe.

Import an Existing Hinkal Wallet

(Welcome screen → “I already have a Hinkal Wallet”)

  1. Create a password Set a local password for the device you’re using right now.

  2. Enter your recovery phrase Type or paste your existing recovery phrase into the fields provided. This re-creates your root keys and primary account.

  3. Restore additional accounts (if any) If your phrase previously held more than one account, open Account One → Add Account after import and add them one by one. Only the first derivation path is restored automatically; the rest are just a couple of clicks away.

Which path should I choose?

  • External Wallet: Fastest route if you already trust MetaMask, Phantom, etc.—no seed phrase to manage.

  • New Hinkal Wallet: Full self-custody with a brand-new 12-word phrase.

  • Import Wallet: Bring back a Hinkal Wallet you created earlier with its original phrase.

Whichever option you pick, you’ll finish with a Private Wallet inside Hinkal, ready to send, receive, swap, and interact with any dApp privately.
