FAQ

Q: How does Hinkal work? What kind of transactions can I perform?

A: Hinkal is an institutional-grade protocol enabling confidential on-chain transactions. It allows institutional and retail users to create shielded addresses and transact on major dApps in complete confidentiality (the origin and destination of transaction).

Hinkal accepts any ERC-20 and BEP-20 tokens as deposits, which can be used for swapping, staking, yield-farming, and yield trading confidentially, or be withdrawn with no reference to the original deposit address. Each user holds a shielded address where tokens are stored after depositing.

In short, the process is as follows. Users:

1. Pass an integrity check before being able to use the Protocol.

2. Deposit assets in a shielded address.

3. Run their trading strategies (swap, stake, yield farm, yield trade, provide liquidity) in confidentiality - all in one place.

4. Withdraw to an old or new wallet.

We have also received several asks for Order book DEX integrations that we are planning to add next. Feel free to DM the team if you need a private trading experience on your favorite dApp.

Q: Who is Hinkal for?

A: Hinkal provides on-chain privacy for everyone.

Institutional use cases:

  • Confidential on-chain strategies. No visibility of assets and strategies by the market (copytrading & frontrunning) and LPs.

  • Confidential liquidation of tokens for VCs/treasuries of protocols. VCs can receive their tokens directly to the shielded addresses so no one can see the recipient and liquidator.

  • Payments/transfers.

  • Security of assets. Hackers cannot target individuals or entities holding substantial assets.

Retail use cases:

  • Teams receiving tokens onto shielded addresses.

  • Yield-farmers obfuscating wallet connections.

  • Payments/transfers.

  • Security of assets.

Q: What differentiates Hinkal from other similar protocols?

A: While there are already protocols aiming to tackle similar issues in the blockchain space, Hinkal has a competitive advantage over:

  • Lowest fees: Hinkal charges only 3bps for discreet transactions making it the lowest rates solution available on the market. With stealth addresses, Hinkal is able to return any difference between the expected slippage the user covered prior to the transaction and the actual costs when the transaction is completed on-chain.

  • Institutional grade security: to ensure no illicit parties can access the protocol, Hinkal is secured with an integrity check layer. Our security focus includes Hexagate for real-time threat detection and mitigation, Quantstamp and Secure3 audits, and Immunefi's bug bounty-driven security experts.

  • Unlimited discreet transfers, swaps, and staking/yield farming: with Hinkal, users keep doing what they are best at - generating alpha on their favorite protocols, within a single easy-to-use interface.

  • Frictionless experience: no need for additional wallets, tokens, or waiting time after the deposit of assets.

Q: Why do I need to pass an Integrity Check? How does the process look like?

A: Hinkal is designed to prevent illicit parties from using the protocol. In order to achieve this, users (individuals and organizations) need to obtain an "Access Token” after verifying their integrity.Hinkal’s verification flow is very easy and straightforward:

  • Hinkal checks if the user has a Binance Account Bound Token (BABt), Galxe Passport, or soulbound tokens from zkMe in the connected wallet. We will soon add new integrations with verification protocols to ensure users have a wider choice.

  • If one of the above tokens is detected, the user doesn’t need to pass the check again, so they can directly mint the ‘Access Token’.

  • If the user doesn’t have one of the above tokens, they need to pick their preferred verification provider among the supported options (currently Binance, Coinbase, Authento, Galxe, zkMe, AiPrise) and get verified. The verification process takes < 1 minute and when it is complete, the user can mint their ‘Access Token’.

Provided information during verification stays with the verification providers, with no link between wallet and PII - users’ privacy is preserved.

Q: Is Hinkal on Mainnet?

A: Hinkal is currently live on Ethereum, Polygon, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, Base and Blast. More EVM chains are going to be added in the future.

Q: Which wallets does Hinkal support?

A: Currently, we support MetaMask and Coinbase Wallet, two of the most popular and trusted wallets in the crypto space, as well as any injected wallet like Rabby.

For broader accessibility and mobile compatibility, we have also integrated WalletConnect, enabling users with compatible wallets to interact with Hinkal. WalletConnect includes most of the major wallets used by institutional investors.

Q: Which tokens are available to transact with?

A: Hinkal supports all coins on the supported chains, including tokens from Curve, Beefy, and Convex pools and PT, YT, and SY tokens from Pendle. If a token is not found in the drop-down menu during deposit, users can import it manually by pasting the token address and pressing “Add Token”. Token information is fetched automatically. The process can be viewed in our step-by-step guide.

Q: Does Hinkal have a token?

A: Hinkal does NOT have a token at this moment. Be careful of SCAMS.

Q: Does Hinkal run any community campaigns?

A: We currently run campaigns on Galxe, Zealy, and TaskOn. Points accumulated on these platforms are converted to Hinkal Points. You can find out more by visiting Hinkal’s Galxe Space, Zealy Community, TaskOn Hub, and Discord Server.

Q: What are Hinkal Points? How do I get them?

A: Hinkal rewards active participation and user support with Hinkal Points. Hinkal users can join the Most Private Society and earn rewards per Season. Currently, the Most Private Society Preseason is active. There are 4 ways to receive Hinkal Points:

1. Keeping your shielded assets in Hinkal

2. Executing swaps

3. Referring new users to Hinkal

4. Completing community campaigns on Galxe, Zealy, and TaskOn

For more information on how to accumulate points, please refer to Hinkal Points guide.
